Sr.
Field Engineering Technician
- Technicians
observe and document construction activities, perform tests
on soils, concrete, masonry and asphalt to verify compliance
with project specifications. Submit daily field reports,
work and communicate effectively with contractor and
construction team.
- Ability
to read blueprints required.
- High
School diploma or equivalent, good writing skills, and a good
driving record is required. NICET, ACI certifications, mold,
asbestos, Radiation Safety
Training or similar certifications are desired.
- Ability
to lift 80 lbs.

Certified
Welding Inspectors
- Provides
testing observation and inspection of shop and field welded
and bolted assemblies on various projects in accordance with
applicable codes and drawings as well as job specifications
(civil and structural plans). Ability to read site plans.
- Observation
and documentation may be required of activities on site
pertaining to soil, concrete, grout, mortar and asphalt
testing.
- Document
nonconforming items on deviation list.
- Submit
daily field reports.
- CWI or
CAWI certification or equivalent desired.
- High
School diploma or equivalent, good writing skills, and a
good driving record.

established in 1970 by Mr. Joe Whitaker,
with 5 employees. In 1975, with the need to expand, Whitaker
Laboratory, Inc. built new and larger facilities at 2500
Tremont Road in Savannah and moved from its
previous location in Garden City.

Since its inception in 1970, our staff has increased to
better than 25 employees and our commercial services have
expanded in job capability as well as in every phase of
construction methods and their respective quality
control testing.
The Laboratory’s
principal areas of expertise
are in the testing of soil, concrete, asphalt materials,
storm water and related materials. We also perform foundation
investigations, pile inspections and
maintain a full-time environmental staff for environmental
site assessments as well as asbestos, lead paint and mold
assessments and inspections.
The lab maintains all of the necessary
equipment to perform specified quality control testing that encompasses
each phase of our operation.
